Although it’s received a smattering of plays on the corrupt channel known as IFC, this isn’t exactly something you’ll find casually being played on a standard movie channel or prominently displayed at your video store.
Shot on an absurdly small budget and released to film festivals in 2004, Primer is every bit the head trip move that Inception promised to be but failed to deliver upon. The tone and writing is similar to the early work of Darren Aronofsky, in particular 1998’s Pi.
Shockingly the director of this fine film, Shane Carruth, hasn’t made anything since. Anyone who enjoys Primer will be left wanting more, hopefully this up and coming director will reel himself in long enough to deliver.
