Red White & Blue is an exploitation film’s exploitation film. The characters take center stage here in a way that is not typically offered in films of this ilk. There’s a very playful structure to the story being told, not all that dissimilar from French New Wave films like Band of Outsiders and Jules and Jim.
Weird, gritty, and emotional, Red White & Blue may go down as high water mark for it’s genre. It just might not be something you’d want to have a high water mark for.
